Job Description
Shea Agro Nig Ltd was engaged by Thrive Agric Ltd to produce and supply different variety of hybrid seedlings for smallholder farmers in Kaduna and Niger State respectively.
The Agroforestry project is aimed at enhancing sustainable farming practices and combating climate change in partnership with Acorn-Rabobank of the Netherlands, the project seeks to empower approximately 30,000 smallholder farmers by integrating tree cultivation with traditional crop farming.
This project exemplifies Shea Agro Nig Ltd in partnership with Thrive Agric in promoting sustainable agriculture, enhancing biodiversity and improving the livelihood of smallholder farmers in Nigeria.
More so, the core initiative of this project involves planting one hectare of fruit-bearing trees such as Mango and sweet orange alongside each hectare of staple crop like Maize, Rice and Soybeans. This approach not only diversifies farmers income but also contributes to carbon sequestration enabling them to earn carbon credits.
Over the years, Thrive Agric has been actively involved in supporting smallholder farmers in Kaduna and Niger State and has onboarded over 250,000 farmers and cultivated more than 95,000 hectares.
